Magic Easter Dust?

Yesterday evening, I had Grandson gluing different colors of thread to a balloon. I wouldn't tell him why. After he went to bed & the glue dried, I carefully removed the balloon (instructions on request), cut off the top of the string, then put some green tissue paper in the bottom & added a litle candy & a stuffed toy.

This morning, he saw it & wondered how that happened. I told him that after last Easter, the Easter Bunny gave me a little magic Easter dust & that I sprinkled it on the balloon then went to bed. He loved it. I loved seeing him so excited & happy.

I used thread, but bedspread cotton works better. Generic glue isn't quite as easy to work with as Elmer's School Glue. Water it down a little so the yarn will absorb it. Also, after you blow up the balloon, but before you start gluing it, put a piece of tape on it. Use about 2", then when you are ready, you can run a pin through the tape & it won't pop. You can also get the thread loose before it totally goes down, making it easier to get the threads loose.

If you want more of a basket, instead of an Easter egg type shape, invert a bowl & cover with plastic wrap. Then you can just pull the plastic loose when it's totally dry.

What I did is based on instructions, here: http://www.ehow.com/list_6404011_easter-craft-ideas-string-glue.html

Extra tired, today

No idea what's the deal, but I had a lot of trouble staying awake, today.  Oh well, I'll sleep soon.

Since I was out of town a week ago, I missed that Sunday at church.  They did ok without me, but said they were glad I got home.  Nice to be needed.  Well, yesterday, I felt like I'd been gone a month.  Had to get back into the swing of running the computer & sound.

I got a little done at Mom's, though.  Today, got a little more done.  Moved a little more stuff, gave Mom the task of going through a bunch of shoes to see what she could get rid of, & unboxed a bunch of pictures to figure out where to put them.  I have an idea on them, but will have to figure out the details tomorow.

Finished, or at least part of it

I finished everything over the stove, except I need to make a bead with caulk.  That will be done tomorrow.  Trying to load a photo, but for some reason, computer won't allow it.

My youngest brother, Ronnie will be here tomorrow.  He hasn't seen the house yet.  He & I are going to move the security cameras from Mom's other house to this one.

I'm wishing I could take a day off, just to sleep late & rest my bones.  My knee is upset with me.  For some reason, it doesn't think I should be playing basketball with my Grandson.  Oh well, if I can get it rested, the swelling will go down like it always does.

Working on Mom's house

Mom & I decided to take out the microwave/vent hood, which left an unfinished wall area. The area that was finished has a really thick textured finish, which we figure would be nasty in a hurry. The thickest spots, I sanded down a little with 60 grit sanding block, then cut a thin sheet of masonite paneling & nailed it to the wall to give a smoother surface to glue the panels to. For now, I have the walls ready for the panels, but still need to glue the panels in place. In these pics, they are just held in place by the canisters.
